Handmade Custom Aluminum Seat Build

Here are some hand made aluminum seats I made for the Bibbster project. I started off by getting some ideas from the ole interwebs.

I knew I wouldn’t be able to create anything as complex as the ideas I had. I wanted to pull some of the features and use them on my seat build.

I started off making templates out of Ram board.

Found the proper lay back I needed to fit the car.

And then started cutting the aluminum. I used .050 3003 aluminum for these seats.

The side needed a flange to connect the front and bottom, so I used the bead roller to tip the edge and used the shrinker where needed.

Once I had the side complete I started working on the front. Laid out the design I wanted and made it come to life with some bead rolling, english wheel work for the contour and some flared holes.

Finishing off the top edges with some 1/2 inch aluminum fuel line.

I was pretty happy with the finished product.

Here are the videos that document this process.
