Figured the first build I would post is the one I am currently working on. This is what I call the Covid Coupe. The plan was to build a rough looking patina foxbody on the outside but make the interior and engine bay as cool and clean as I can.
This is how it started…
She was pretty rough. I ended up selling as much stuff as I could in an effort to offset the cost of the chassis. (wheels, rear end, interior…)
First thing I did was chop off the front core support and build a tube front for it.

I then decided to build a car dolly to make the chassis easy to roll around the shop.
Once the chassis was mobile it was time to move the factory rear wheel tubs in to make room for wider wheels and tires.
When I had the front and rear dialed I focused on getting the body “cleaned” up and cleared.

Now it was time to try and make this thing a roller. I ordered the wheels and tires I wanted and figure I would make whatever mods I needed to in order to get them to fit. 10.5x18 with 315’s in the rear and 9.5x18 with 275’s up front.
In order for these wheels and tires to work I am going to need to narrow the rear end and the front a-arms.

The front suspension was going to need some modifications. I went back and forth about how I wanted to tackle this. I knew I was going to need to shorten the a-arms about an inch to get the stance I wanted. The other problem was the back space on the wheel was so much that I wasn’t going to be able to run an aftermarket coil over kit. So initially I decided to make a custom spring perch that was similar to the factory one but made for the smaller coil over style spring.
Part of shortening the a-arms was going to require me to make some adjustments to the caster camber plates.

I got into YouTube car builds after being inspired by you years ago. Miss your videos I learned allot from tricks and tools you’d show
after I saw how you left the top sheet metal in the front of Covid coupe it was too late mine was already cut off.

That’s rad! Start a “New Topic” and document the build so we can follow it.
Any idea what the weight of that engine is compared to a v8?

Engine and transmission of my 347 and Coyote are both 650lbs
This will be hopefully right under 1,000 but where else can you get 6-800ft lbs of torque with maintenance of oil changes lol
Coalstang on YouTube total weight is right over 3000 lbs and does 10 second 1/4 mile times. I bought scales so ill do my best with weight transfer in the build process

I am pretty sure I have seen that coal stang before. I dig builds like that.

This car needs to be as light as possible so I decided to build my own steering column. Some one inch chromoly tube, aluminum tube, some bearings and locking collars. It ended up being over 10lbs lighter than a stock column.
