Custom trailer smoker build

I started with a 320 gallon propane tank. With the length of these tanks I figured I would just cut out a section to be used as the fire box.

After cutting out the section I wanted to use as the fire box, I welded the end cone back on and moved everything in to the shop.

I used an engine hoist and some 2x4’s to set everything up for mock up.

Once I have everything mocked up I started laying out my doors and marking where I need to cut to integrate the fire box.

When working on the doors I mounted the hinges before completely cutting the doors loose.

I decided to make the doors two different sizes. Figured things that would cook faster like wings or thighs would be better closer to the fire box and wouldn’t need a large door. The smaller door will also help retain heat when it is opened. The larger door would be better for things like Brisket, ribs, or butts and would be better farther from the fire box.

Once the basics were set I started working on the foldable smoke stack and a griddle to cook on.

When I had it all mostly done I mounted it to a trailer that was supplied, finished some of the little details and put some high temp clear on it.
