When bending tubing there are two ways to do it. The most popular way is with a bender that draws the tubing over a die. These type of benders are used when building roll bars and chassis. Sometimes you need a much larger radius bend than is offered in the dies. This is when roll benders come into play. Harbor Freight makes an affordable roll bender but the problem is that the lower wheels are not far enough apart to get enough leverage to bend thicker or harder materials. With these plates, or as I call them “wings”. It allows you to spread the wheels further apart essentially giving you more leverage on the the tube. SWAG also makes attachments that make this thing a powered roller and a hydraulic tensioner.
Works great for making long radius bends.
